Does not work well with corded phones August 22, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After researching Plantronic's site for a compatable desk phone, I settled on a Panasonic. I had to re-visit Plantronic's website to get meaningful set up instructions. Although I was able to get a tone, the reception was horrible on both ends.
Short working range June 19, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have used CS50 for a long time and I got 510S as a replacement. After trying 510S for a few days, I went back to CS50:br /br /Pros:br /br /Works for both my landline and cell phone at the same time, I realy like this.br /br /Good sound quality.br /br /Cons:br /br /Compares with CS50, I got much shorter range. This is the deciding factor that I switched back to CS50. Had it been a class 1 (100M range), I would have kept it and given it five stars.br /br /If you do not require a work range more than a couple of meters, this is the right product for you.
Great for Blackberry, Good for Cisco Office Phone January 27, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Picked this headset for two reasons. First, got tired of my wired headset for the office...felt like a leashed animal on long calls. Secondly, got tired of replacing my headset for my cell so I wanted something that had good sound quality and wouldn't easily fall off. On the mobile front, I have a BB 8700 and the sound quality of the 510 is probably the best I've experienced out of all the different wireless headsets I've tried. My only criticism is that it's not as comfortable as I had hoped. As someone mentioned, I think part of it has to do with the size of your ear. The wrap around feature might be a little much if you have a smaller ear. Also, the foam on the actual earpiece itself is a little annoying if you have on for an extended period of time. Relative to the landline, it took me a little time to figure out the wiring configuration. What's odd is that the sound quality seems to be lower than when connected to my BB. Not sure why that's the case since Plantronics makes the base unit. The sound quality is okay...there is the occassional static and folks on the other end tell me that they can tell that I'm on a headset. What is annoying is the need to lift up the handset and to press the connection button on the base unit or headset. I know that there's probably a technical reason for this, but my office phone has a seperate jack and button for a wired headset and I can't understand why I can't simply press that button to initiate the connection to the 510S. Overall, I think this is an above average product, especially given the alternatives out there. I'm sure that there are better wireless alternatives for the landline, but nothing that I could find that offered the flexibility of being used with your cell as well. That being said, there's still plenty of room for improvement.
Will it ever work? January 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The headset works fine with my Treo 700p (about the only thing about the Treo that works!), but after two long sessions with Plantronics tech support, and attempts to make the desktop Bluetooth phone adapter work with 2 different kinds of hardwired phones, they sent me a replacement. While the original just produced unintelligible reception through the headset, the new at first would not even allow the person on the other end to hear what I was saying through the hardwire phone handset, and after solving that problem by switching wires, they couldn't hear me though the BT headset!! Regardless of whether I end up with something that works satisfactorily I wish I had not purchased this product.
Excellent dual-purpose headset December 11, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm currently using this with a Cisco 7962 business telephone and a Palm Treo 650 cell phone. I love being able to use one headset for both by land-line and cell. Range and clarity are both excellent - my headset connects to the desk phone from well over the advertised range. The headset design is also the most comfortable I've found. I would strongly suggest checking the Plantronics web site to make sure it's compatible with your office phone. Some of the functionality - for example, the ability to answer and hang up calls using the headset's button - depend on the capabilities of your office phone. In my case, everything works seamlessly and I'm very pleased.
