not just a headset, but complicated landline phone connect system as well February 13, 2006 KNSudha (Saratoga, CA USA) 33 out of 41 found this review helpful
This is the really nice plantronics bluetooth headset, which works great as a headset, but also bundled with this is a complicated system (part mechanical) which can pick up and hang up your landline office phone. The headset as you know can pair with two devices, so this includes a bluetooth adapter for your landline phone, hence the price difference. You can basically pick up calls from both your cell and landline seamlessly with the same headset if you need that feature.
Excellent tool October 10, 2007 Brett J. Burk (Virginia) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I use this headset with my cell phone (a Treo 700w), my desk phone (Avaya Partner II system) and my laptop for Skype calls (MacBook Pro). I have also used it with my home phone and have been completely pleased in all cases. It is comfortable, the audio quality is excellent and the system is easy to use.
Excellent dual-purpose headset December 11, 2007 Erik R. Carlseen (San Diego, CA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm currently using this with a Cisco 7962 business telephone and a Palm Treo 650 cell phone. I love being able to use one headset for both by land-line and cell. Range and clarity are both excellent - my headset connects to the desk phone from well over the advertised range. The headset design is also the most comfortable I've found. I would strongly suggest checking the Plantronics web site to make sure it's compatible with your office phone. Some of the functionality - for example, the ability to answer and hang up calls using the headset's button - depend on the capabilities of your office phone. In my case, everything works seamlessly and I'm very pleased.
best office bluetooth July 7, 2010 connie Easy to set up, so comfortable and functional - best desk based bluetooth I've yet to find!
Great for Blackberry, Good for Cisco Office Phone January 27, 2008 Dubbie (Connecticut) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Picked this headset for two reasons. First, got tired of my wired headset for the office...felt like a leashed animal on long calls. Secondly, got tired of replacing my headset for my cell so I wanted something that had good sound quality and wouldn't easily fall off. On the mobile front, I have a BB 8700 and the sound quality of the 510 is probably the best I've experienced out of all the different wireless headsets I've tried. My only criticism is that it's not as comfortable as I had hoped. As someone mentioned, I think part of it has to do with the size of your ear. The wrap around feature might be a little much if you have a smaller ear. Also, the foam on the actual earpiece itself is a little annoying if you have on for an extended period of time. Relative to the landline, it took me a little time to figure out the wiring configuration. What's odd is that the sound quality seems to be lower than when connected to my BB. Not sure why that's the case since Plantronics makes the base unit. The sound quality is okay...there is the occassional static and folks on the other end tell me that they can tell that I'm on a headset. What is annoying is the need to lift up the handset and to press the connection button on the base unit or headset. I know that there's probably a technical reason for this, but my office phone has a seperate jack and button for a wired headset and I can't understand why I can't simply press that button to initiate the connection to the 510S. Overall, I think this is an above average product, especially given the alternatives out there. I'm sure that there are better wireless alternatives for the landline, but nothing that I could find that offered the flexibility of being used with your cell as well. That being said, there's still plenty of room for improvement.
