Amazon.com Review Lightweight and inexpensive yet solidly constructed, the Eureka 4700A Maxima offers an excellent value in a full-size upright vacuum. The cheerful yellow unit is easy to push and maneuver, offers powerful, 12-amp suction, and even uses micro-filtration to capture dust mites, pollen, and pet dander for cleaner, healthier indoor air, whether you have allergies or not. Like other bagless models, the Maxima eliminates the expense and hassle of disposable vacuum cleaner bags, using instead an easily accessible, easily-emptied dirt cup that's transparent so you can see when it's full. On the downside, the filter needs to be cleaned often, especially if you have pets, but this is also common with other bagless models. In the case of the Eureka Maxima, there's only one filter to clean and it's easily washable, simplifying the process considerably. p In keeping with its simple, versatile design, the Maxima comes with just the right amount of onboard tools: a crevice tool for corners and baseboards, dusting brush for upholstery and blinds, and extra-long, nested extension wand for added reach. All of these attach to an integrated large-diameter hose designed to resist clogging and help keep the unit from tipping when it's pulled. (The hose detaches rather easily, but this comes in handy in case it does need to be cleared.) A grip on top near the base aids in cleaning stairs or upholstery, while the handle lowers almost flat to vacuum under low furniture. Other features include a powerfully bright headlight and an automatic height adjuster, which accommodates surfaces ranging from linoleum to deep pile without ever touching a switch. Weighing in at just 14 pounds, the Eureka 4700A maxima measures 12-3/4 inches wide by 12 inches long by 42-1/2 inches tall; it is covered by a one-year limited warranty. I--Mary Park/I

Vacuum Cleaner - bagless review December 14, 2008 Very good product. Don't have any trouble so far after 7 months of use. would recommend it, it is cheap and does the job well. a little noisy i would say, and could have been made a little smaller, but other than that, no complaints. buy confidently.
Disappoinment December 10, 2008 I had high hopes for this product, as it claimed to handle pet hair particularly well. My experience was just the opposite. While the special hair filter trapped hair pretty well, within just a few minutes the hair backed up into the hose and clogged the whole system. The only way to get the hair out of the hose was to take the screw out that held the hose to the vacuum and push the hair through with a broom handle - a messy 15+ minute task. I finally stopped putting the screw in because I had to take it off at least once every time I vacuumed. The hair also clogged in the intake from the roller, so the four screws that held the base together had to be removed nearly every time I vacuumed to clean out that area. The suction got so bad that the hand-held roller would no longer spin and was worthless. Today the motor on the roller burned out because it caught a shoelace for approximately two seconds. We have only had the vacuum for about six months. Save yourself a whole lot of aggravation and buy a different product!
Crap vacuum December 9, 2008 I bought this vacuum about 2-3 years ago and at first I was very impressed with the suction. But gradually and starting about 6 months after purchase, it began losing suction. The vacuum spins dust and particles through its brushes and out the back on to your feet. I cleaned the filter religiously which is quite challenging since the filter can't just be dusted,it has to be washed and dried completely before further use.Yet, the vacuum became close to useless and I have used it in conjunction with the broom for the last year or so. Well maybe 2-3 yrs is about the life span of a vacuum because I was just using it and it just stopped,dead..completely not working. Trust me..spend the extra and get a good vacuum. I am getting a Dyson next.
Best vacuum I have ever owned November 26, 2008 This is the best vacuum I have ever used. The canister is easy to empty and it picks up amazingly well.
Happy Happy November 23, 2008 A little tough to put together but all in all works like a charm. Really Sucks dirt and does it well. I would buy it again. Easy to get rid of nasty dirt in the canister.
