Product Description The passPORT features a female pass-through connector that attaches to any in-car iPod integration system to support charging for the iPhone 3G and newly introduced iPod models. With the recent release of these products, many users find that their accessories will not support charging for their device. Scosche's passPORT will allow the iPhone 3G and newly released iPod models to charge with existing iPod integration systems.

Great Product...Does Exactly What It Sayas January 9, 2009 This product is great. Works well with my US PA11 system. Does exactly what it says it does.
Not appropriate for all applications... December 14, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Bottom line: If you are trying to use this in a car that has 'dirty' power you'll get hum and noise from the ipod. It's usable but annoying.br /br /Although this product works, it does not appear to contain any sort of power noise filtering. I have an adapter in my 2000 expedition that replaces the cd player with an ipod port. When I installed it, I had to put a ground loop isolator on the audio line to keep the car's power noise from bleeding through to the stereo. I suspect this product works by simply taking the 12v power going to the firewire pin on the ipod connector, stepping the voltage down to +5v, and putting it on the ipod USB connector pin. Unfortunately, this means the power and sound are close to each other in an electronic device right before the ipod. If the power in your vehicle is dirty at all, you'll get noise. In my car, the noise is extremely annoying at mid-range volume and audible at soft volumes. It can be heard even when no sound is playing. br /br /The solution to this problem is to use a "ground loop isolator" on the audio lines. Unfortunately, Scosche chose not do to do this. I suspect they avoided it because it would have been too large. There is another solution but it isn't pretty. (...which is why I bought the scosche adapter - 1. female ipod dock connector to 3.5mm plug. 3.5mm plug to ground loop isolator. ground loop isolator to standard ipod car charger with 3.55m female output plug. Standard ipod car charger to ipod) -- ugly, expensive, and lots of cables ... but it works.br /br /Good luck.
Noise on the speakers with this connected December 14, 2008 I have the USA-Spec PA11-Ford1 unit in my 1999 Ford Explorer, which works great with my iPhone 3G except it won't charge. I had high hopes for this adapter. Although it appears to charge, there is some annoying noise coming from the speakers with the Schosche adapter in use. The noise is present even if the engine is off. Such a disappointment, guess I'll have to wait for USA-Spec to start shipping their updated cable.
It Works! December 13, 2008 It works as described. My iPhone 3G now charges when connected to my iPod2Car unit. it wouldn't charge without it. No problems.
This is the real deal December 7, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
If you car won't support charging firewire based devices, then this won't work for you. Otherwise, it's just what I needed for my Alpine deck: full control of my iPod through my receiver and charging power to make GPS usable. I love it and I would recommend it to every person pining for the ability to charge their 3g phone with their firewire charging iPod / iPhone 2G.
