When a visitor--wanted or unwanted--approaches a house on foot or in a vehicle the motion-detecting sensor unit of this warning device sends a signal to the receiver indoors, which chimes an alert. The device is wireless and has a 400-foot range. It requires three C-cell batteries for the receiver and one 9-volt battery for the transmitting sensor. (Batteries are not included.) The sensor is housed in weather-resistant plastic, installs with a screw on any surface, such as a mailbox post, garage, or door, and measures 4-1/4 inches high, 2-5/8 inches wide, and 2-1/4 inches deep.  Too many false alarms... November 25, 2008
I bought this product couple of months ago, and I have tried using it many times. Other than false alarms the unit pretty much work as expected. However, it gives too many false alarms, to become useless. The motion detector is too sensitive and there is no way of controlling it. It comes factory prefixed settings.br /br /Here are my observations on false alarm conditions:br /- Tree leaves moving causes the alarm to go off.br /- During fall, dry leaves moving cause the alarm to go offbr /- If there is sudden changes in sunlight on a cloudy day, the alarm goes offbr /br /I also have motion detector security light installed, which works perfectly. The light goes on only when there is someone (or fairly large object) moving. Hardly any false trigger on it.br /br /That makes me think this driveway patrol has been designed poorly and does not serve the purpose.br /br /My whole family got annoyed with this, as it definitely does not work as expected. So everyone in my house switches it off after couple of hours I switch it on. br /br /It would have been great product without this flaw as cost is reasonably low, and everything else is works just fine. br /br /I would not recommend to anyone to purchase. It might be possible that the unit I got is defective. br /br /It is useless product ..... DO NOT BUY IT! br /

I was leary - the price was too good to be true and some of the reviews were not that great. But I bought it anyway - and couldn't be more pleased. I did put a piece of tape on the one side of the sensor, only because I had a tree limb that moved and set it off. Took me all of two minutes to set it up. This product certainly works well for me.

I am using this to sound an alarm whenever my 94-year old mother gets up at night and goes out of her bedroom. It is loud enough that she turns around even when sleeping and goes back to bed. And when this doesn't happen I can come arunning.

I was absolutely amazed at the sensitive of the Driveway Patrol Kit. It really works!! Even a cat crossing my front walk does not go undetected. I had to move a potted tree because the shadow of the tree swaying in the wind cast a shadow on the wall, and the sensor picked up the movement. Amazing! Great bargain for the price; it sells as much as triple the price elsewhere.
