ID calls at a glance October 4, 2008 Bought this product to replace a Jumbo Caller ID made by Emerson. Not wireless like the Emerson, but set up easy and works well. Visible from across the room, and unlike the Emerson, lights up in the dark when the phone rings.
Great Display July 16, 2008 Easy to connect, display is large and clear. Ability to display call waiting ID is a huge plus.
Light me up April 6, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This one has a nice backlight for the display which the first one I bought didn't. I am assuming it is working real well as it is on the wife's side of the bed but I am sure she would not hesitate to tell me if it didn't.
Ok, but worked only 8 months February 27, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The backlight is 3 green LED's at the bottom of the screen, but they aren't bright. My message LED and new call LED did turn on (you must call Verizon to get the message data sent; it's off by default. Otherwise, message waiting won't turn on). The display's contrast is adjustable, and very readable after adjusting. The delete button sometimes did not pop out after use. About 30% of the time it will disconnect the call I'm on when a incoming call is displayed. It worked semi-OK, but I will not buy it again.
Not as advertised but still fairly good January 19, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I purchased this unit because it had two features I desire: Caller ID while using Call Waiting and a bright, large screen.br /br /1. ALL of the ads for this item show the background as bright green and some even refer to it as "backlit" which it is not. There is absolutely no backlighting. Furthermore, the background is a muddy green (similar to the color of the Atlantic Ocean or imagine mixing black and green paint- that's the background color). Obviously, to make the ads and promotional materials look better, they highlighted the background color. So do not be fooled at all. This does not light up. Had the background been set to a bright green, blue, or similar, the contrast would permit easy reading.br /br /Consequently, the screen read out is extremely difficult to see in most light conditions. The black numbers (I have set to highest contrast) are hard to discern from the background. br /br /2. Not one of more than 20 calls received has lit the new call light. This is unimportant to me. Similarly, the Voicemail light does not work which I also do not care about since all I have to do is to lift my telephone handset to know if I have received voicemails. Not having two potentially distracting lights next to my desk is not a problem, but if those features are important to you, beware. Regardless, the large screen is definitely easier to read than typical small screen ID boxes. br /br /3. When I am on the phone and a second call comes through, I get absolutely no read out of the second call. This is extremely important especially if you work from home and business calls may overlap. I use Vonage telephone services which provides free caller ID with call waiting. On the assumption that the problem may be within their system, I have contacted them and am awaiting a reply. If not, then it's another product failure.br /br /4. I had previously purchased a large screen caller ID module (the one most people also consider on Amazon when looking at the CL-ML300 from Classco. The GE unit is now in the garbage. Not worth even returning. It was abyssmal. When on a call, it would consistently cause a long, loud click every minute or so which disrupted every call; requiring me to explain. Some people thought I was taping my calls. Others hung up thinking we were disconnected. And still others thought a second call was coming through. The GE unit is horrendous.br /br /So my final assessment is tepid. There are pluses and minuses to this device. Set up was easy. Remember, you MUST use the AC Adapter so location must be near a plug. The batteries are only meant to save call records in case of a power outage.
