Product Description The Plantronics S10 Telephone Headset System offers both a convertible, noise-canceling headset and amplifier to bring hands-free convenience to corded phones. The system is compatible with most single- or multi-line corded phones, and includes a variety of features to enhance communications. These include transmit and receive volume controls, so you can set the sound level that is most comfortable for them, a contemporary, ergonomic design for easy accessibility and a visual indicator that shows if the system is in headset or the handset mode.
Amazon.com Review Satisfied with the telephone sitting on your desk but still wishing for the convenience of a headset telephone? Plantronics lets you have both with its S10 telephone headset system. The device sits between your telephone's base unit and its handset and enables you to do much more than just talk hands-free. The base unit for the S10 plugs into the handset jack on your telephone, so it will work with any active line of a multiline phone. (Unfortunately, this also prevents it from working with most cordless phones.) Once the base unit is installed and plugged in you can put on the headset and begin answering calls. The headset is great--it is practically weightless, and the microphone is the type that sits beside your mouth instead of extending in front of it. Three ear hooks of varying sizes are included, along with a standard headset band that fits over your head. It is easy to detach the band from the integrated headphone/microphone unit and install an ear hook instead. We preferred the hooks since the unit is so light, and after a few minutes we were able to forget we even had it on. The headphone speaker doesn't press tightly to your ear, so it's possible to wear the headset for hours in complete comfort. The S10's base unit has a switch that lets you shift between using the headset or the phone's handset, and it also controls the amplifier. There are volume controls for incoming and outgoing audio and a tone control for adjusting the bass and treble of incoming calls. Once everything was adjusted, all of our calls sounded great, and it was difficult to go back to a normal phone that didn't have the handy amplifier adjustments. All headset phones should be so comfortable and easy to use. --T. Byrl Baker Pros: - Headset is extremely light, especially when ear hooks are used
- Amplifier controls allow for perfect fine-tuning
- Unit makes it possible to use your phone's handset if you prefer
Cons: - You have to take handset off the hook when answering calls (even if your are using the headset)
Amazon.com Product Description The Plantronics' S10 Convertible Headset with Amplifier delivers the increased capability and comfort that comes with hands-free operation to your office or home phone (must be a corded phone). This model couples Plantronics convertible, noise canceling headset with a fully featured amplifier. The headset is adjustable for the convenience of over-the-head or over-the-ear hands-free use, and its microphone is designed to virtually eliminate ambient noise and echoes. Independent volume controls for both outgoing and incoming calls and adjustable tone let you fine-tune the S10's sound. This unit also sports a sleek headset stand. Additional features include online and mute indicator lights, mute function, and a single-button switch for seamless transfer between headset and handset modes. Easy to install and operate, the Plantronics' S10 Convertible Headset with Amplifier connects to single- or multi-line corded phones and is backed by a one-year warranty (U.S. and Canada purchase only).

NOT THE ITEM THAT I ORDERED!!! April 21, 2008 WRONG ITEM SENT TOME,BUT I'LL JUST KEEP IT ANYWAY,ITS TO MUCH TROUBLE TO SEND STUFF BACK!!!
Merrill Lynch Employee March 8, 2007 My company bought everyone this phone. From my experience it works great. Clear sound for incoming and outgoing and comfortable (for me at least). Our office upgraded our phones to wireless. We now use PLANTRONICS CS50. Plantronics also have good customer service. The replace any problem with their merchandise within the year of purchase. Great investment for all.
Does the job but... April 22, 2004 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have this at work. It does the job okay, but people sometimes have a hard time hearing what I say, even though I have the speaking volume turned all the way up. The other drawback is that you can't switch out headsets with it - you only can use the monoaural headset that comes with it, which isn't so good for noisy environments.Other than that, I have been using it for over 6 months now and it has been working well enough to keep.
Works perfectly for me November 1, 2003 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I first wanted to respond to a concern about terrible screeching when used in office multi-phone conditions. I can't speak to multiple S10's in the same office but did have a screech on first try to another extension. The amplifier, however, has 7 configuration settings. I found several settings worked for outgoing calls but only two worked for both in office and outgoing use. So if a second headset is bought in my office I'll respond to whether we could find a configuration setting for both headsets that worked. I supposed that just confuses the concern. The earhook setup is light and I find that I forget I'm wearing it until I run into the cord turning my chair or standing up. It is nice that nothing actually sits inside my ear but rather it rests gently on the outside. Volume wise: In addition to adjusting the volume and tone of incoming signal it really has power available to broadcast your voice out. There are two ranges available for output as well as a volume in each range. The highest range is too much but it is good to know its there if I ever get someone complaining they can barely hear me (as happened all the time with a previous headset system).
