I agree, do not buy this phone June 2, 2008 This phone screeches an annoying pitch as the caller is attempting to leave a message. Unplugging and plugging it in again clears this up but not for long. Plus the recording quality is poor.
Defective phone/ answering machine April 22, 2008 Thank God for Amazon.com reviews! I own the white version of this phone and received a "MEMORY FULL" error message. The phone would not record new messages even though it only held only a dozen messages previously. I bought this phone about 2 years ago. I followed the instructions of some of the one-star reviews and unplugged the phone for a few minutes. After plugging the phone back, the answering machine started working again. After this phone dies, I won't buy another GE corded phone!
Works Okay But Lousy Ergonomics April 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The phone looks alright and is relatively easy to use, has a decent features list, and doesn't really have any wasted features. This is a good thing because of the feature-overload so many things today suffer from. However, the phone in question feels terrible in the hand, has sub-par sound on the handset, and the cradle is very poorly designed; the phone falls out nine times out of ten unless you're very careful when you hang it up. If you are, then it's just two out of three that it falls. As a result, I can't really recommend the phone for anything other than occasional use.
Problem Solved February 23, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Other reviews have complained that this speakerphone informs callers that the answering machine is full when it isn't and will not allow callers to leave messages. This just happened to us following a short power outage (even with a surge protector). However, all you have to do is to unplug the phone from the electrical outlet for a few minutes and then plug it back in. It corrects itself automatically. Hope this helps
this phone is junque February 10, 2008 My mother-in-law owns one of these phones. As she said, "fix my phone. The phone went out and now its just a machine. I want you to fix it."br /br /The same problem that everyone else has been having on this list -- with the answering machine going dead and the voice saying "memory is full -- we've got that problem, too. br /br /The way to fix it is to unplug the phone for a few minutes. Then the phone's original message will be restored. br /br /Do that and your mother-in-law will really like you.
