Worst printer ever. Do not buy unless you want to upset November 27, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the worst printer after I suffered endless "reset power" error when printing few lines on page. There is no way to resolve this problem. You will find same review comments from this web sites as well as google search. This machine is simply a DEFECT PRODUCT. I bought a new Epson Workforce 600 to replace this junk printer last night. Epson600 works perfectly. br /br /If a all-in-one printer cannot print, copy or scan, it is really useless. I am not complaining about minor issue such as printing quality or user interface. This HP6310 CANNOT print. It worked first couple months but then it stop printing sometimes; say once a week. Then, it occured more frequent like few times per week. Last week, it rarely worked. I tried on all my computer from Mac, WindowXP and Window Vista that all failed. Not only that, it cannot execute simple copy task. This is not a machine I can trust. When I need to print out important document, HP6310 responded "Reset Power Error". I do not think there is anyway to fix it.br /br /Again, few users may be lucky that did not encounter this problem but many users encountered this common fatal error. This machine did not worth even $1 for me. br /br /I am searching receipt to see whether I can do anything about it. I bought it February 2008 so it is still under 1 year manufacture warranty, though I do not expect any good thing will happen to me for returing or refunding. All I can do is to share with you my terrible experience. br /br /I do not trust any HP printer anymore. So far, I am very pleased with Epson Workforce 600. br /br /I recommend any potential buyer to consider this prolem. Do not buy it unless you want to try your luck.br /br /I want to rate this product '0' star but this web site does not allow me so I have to give 1 star that but I don't think it deserves it..br /
Reset power error renders this unit useless November 26, 2008 This was a pretty neat printer. Shortly after we put it in service, the reset power error happened, with all the front panel lights flashing. Power off, power back on, and all is well. That generally lasted weeks. The printer did a generally good job. The copier too. The fax too.br /br /The scanner software stinks, allowing you to scan one page and then reboot your computer before doing the next. br /br /The longer we owned the unit, the power reset problem became more frequent. Now, today, after the unit is out of warranty, the power reset problem cannot be remedied. I cannot use the unit. Apparently, this is a common problem with these units. Search the web and see numerous others with the same issue. br /br /So far, HP has not been helpful, but I'll give them another week. Then I'll be buying a non-HP printer/copier/fax to replace this unit. It's got some engineering problems. Mine will end up in the landfill.
Stay away from this HPOS November 23, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Bought this printer several months ago. I'm so angry I'm writing a review about it. We have laptops running xp and vista. Vista can never see it, we have to reinstall anytime we need to print from that machine. It comes with two cd's for drivers, one for XP and one for vista. I bought it because of the network capabilities, but it hardly ever works. I would almost rather get a decent printer and just share the printer on the network then fight with this every time we need to do something. Pay a few extra bucks and get an upgrade. I'm so done with HP.
Great printer for the price November 19, 2008 This is a great little printer for the price. I have a laptop hooked up as well as a desktop and the printer is great for both. I am very pleased with my purchase
This Time, It's Slick Success. Maybe Next Time, It'll be Protocol Prime. November 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I can't think of how I could be more pleased with my HP Deskjet J4580. When I bought mine (10/7/08), Amazon was offering it at an awesome special price (with one of those "click to see price" links) with Super Saver Shipping... Even on the SSS the printer was delivered only 3 days after I ordered it (10/10/08)!br / br /When I clicked to see the price markdown, I was so flabbergasted my first thought was that maybe the low price was because this printer is not "wired" for wireless, and and/or because it didn't come with the USB cable included (a packing lack which quite a few buyers noted not being pleased with). I decided I didn't need a wireless printer anyway, thinking I might have trouble with installation since I know nothing about wireless protocol (I barely know the word protocol).br / br /(I did buy a wireless mouse and love it! Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000 - Slate)br / br /It appears my instincts were right, at least for me, because I just read some of the reviews for another HP printer, a model number up from mine (J6480 instead of J4580), and it sounds like quite a few people have had trouble getting the drivers to work with wireless protocol. And most of these reviewers were tech savvy ethers beyond me, a person who always thought protocol arrived into reality with my beloved nephew Lonnie, an ex marine who described what protocol means in that branch of the military. They know how to apply that word to its Nth degree. As a clumsy dyslectic, I admire anyone who can shine in any branch of the military.br / br /With my J4580, I easily, quickly, and successfully followed the instructions which came in the box, all the while thanking the other reviewers of that model who reminded purchasers to buy a separate USB cable. I bought the Belkin Pro Series USB 2.0 Device Cable (USB A/USB B, 10 Feet) which I'm absolutely pleased with, and was again helped by the reviews posted on Amazon's buying page.br / br /Everything on the printer works with a slick ease which has me feeling like a sort of semi-pro myself. This is the first time I've had a simple FAX machine which works either separately from or with my PC. With my previous HP (which I also loved and it still works but I wanted to upgrade for speed, capacity, and general purposes), I had tried repeatedly, unsuccessfully (phone bills to prove it), to use FAX programs within my PC, so this new setup is a joy!br / br /Of course wouldn't you know it that I would wait to get this FAX setup about the time I might consider changing to cell phones only, without a land line, which would make this FAX non functional...br / br /OH! So that's why the wireless FAX capacity is becoming the thing now!br / br /Oh well, by the time I get rid of my land line, if I do, maybe the wireless FAX All-in-One machines will have fixed the driver snarls. And maybe I'll know more about wireless protocol by then... if I'm still alive.br / br /For now, I have just what I want, and am thankful for that link on the buying page from the printer I had been looking at to this one I bought. The link said that a newer model was now available. And that newer model (due to the Amazon special price then) was $40 cheaper and several ways better than the older one! br / br /Even at the current discounts available on this printer, which (at the time of my review post) weren't as good as the discount I got, I would purchase this printer again.br / br /Another similar printer, non-wireless, which I would also consider, is the HP Officejet 6310 All-in-One Printer/Fax/Scanner/Copier (Q8061A#ABA)br /br /NOTE: I've posted my review on the 6310 model's buying page, as well as on the buying page for the J4580. All things considered, at the time I posted this review I would buy the 6310, since it is now (11/13/08) offered by Amazon on a similar special to the one I got on 10/7/08 on the J4580. br / br /I enjoy shopping on Amazon, cruising for those specials offered regularly. That research takes a bit of time, including reading reviews, but I enjoy that type of browsing, so I'm a satisfied customer every-which-way.br / br /A writer without protocol (living in a town with pity),br / br /Linda Shelnuttbr /Author of several books on KINDLE and Amazon Shorts
