With so many MP3's out there its hard to find a good quality boom box that will actually play CD's. This one does the trick. Excellent sound, with 4 different settings, and the design is very nice too. The plug for the MP3 player is nice but beware - it does not come with the cord - you have to buy that separately.br /br /I am very happy with my purchase - this is my third one in the 6 years - and so far its one of the better ones I have gotten - I highly recommend it! Also was shipped super fast - excellent shopping experience all around!

Waaaa waaaa waaaaa..... I bought a boom box for under $50, and I got ripped off! It has NO REMOTE, can you believe it? And they converted the headphone jack into an input for my mp3 player, which of course I need ten times more than I'll ever need a headphone jack but I DEMAND IT ALL! And the DISPLAY - all it shows is a track number! I demand to see pretty scrolling info, track name, kbs rate, even lyrics. Why it's almost as if RCA to the physical box of an older model boombox, converted it to play mp3 CDs quite well, changed to jack to an input to meet current demand, and then marketed it without making all the changes I WANT. Sure, it works fine and sounds surprisingly good for the money... why it even remembers your PLACE in mp3 discs when you take one out and put it back in later....but I really like to hear myself whine when I don't get it all.

The things I noticed right away when I turned the unit on:br /br /- Sound quality is very poor due to the small speakers. There is no basses at all, the x-bass button makes almost no difference. br /br /- Radio reception is weak. This boombox could catch only 1 or 2 stations with lots of interference, when a simple clock radio I had played all the stations clearly. Pulling the antenna out actually made the reception worse.br /br /- The CD rotation mechanism is too noisy. When the CD spins the top plastic pad which keeps the CD in place makes hissing noise. Very noticable at low and medium playback volume.br /br /These few draw backs make the use of the unit quite unpleasant both as a radio and as a CD player.

I bought two of these... While the RCA RCD159 is inexpensive and compact, it lacked a feature that drove me crazy. The problem is that when you put a CD in, then press the play button, you have to wait until it reads all the tracks(sometimes 15 seconds for me). After that it displays the number of tracks. Then you must press play a second time to get it to start playing!!!br /br /After a few months the player would start showing ERR on the display when I inserted CD's that previously played fine. My other player plays them fine...br /So could be something with the CD read window/adjustment....br /The radio is poor quality in the sense that it only picks up a few of the local fm stations(they drown out the rest)... Whereas my truck radio picks them all up(able to separate them better).br /Threw the RCA out. My wife still has hers(at work) ...and says it is OK for the price...

This boombox SUCKS!!! This deserves negative 10 stars!br /What kind of music equipment does not offer headphone usage?br /AND the picture above is wrong. The picture above clearly has a headphone symbol above a hole. It's wrong. It actuality it says Audio In. I am returning this piece of $@% immediately.
