By utilizing the 2.4 GHz frequency band, as well as Frequency Hopping Digital Spread Spectrum (FHSS) technology, the KX-TGA270S provides crisp, clear reception even at significant distance from the base. p An illuminated keypad makes dialing easy in the dark, while a headset jack gives you the option of hands-free operation. I love the phone and have had mine for over a year with no trobles. I wanted to add another line so I bought a referbished one from Barclay Ent. here on Amazon. The picture they use is of a handset AND a base, although the wording is "handset only". I thought that handset only ment there is no MAIN base where your messages go, I had NO idea they would have the gawl to sell a CORDLESS phone without the recharger base!!!! Then to top it off, if I want to send this back they will charge me a $25 "restocking fee" and shipping is on my buck!! Just aweful service!!! I am so dispointed with Amazon as well for allowing them to post a picture of an item and NOT sell that item!!!

I have 3 of these extensions used in conjunction with the KX-TG2584 base. They work great, hold a charge and have good range. I can easily walk into the far corners of my yard with no degradation in sound quality.
