Great headset! January 18, 2008 backwoodsman 30 out of 30 found this review helpful
The best headset we've had yet. Works perfectly with 2 different phones, one old and one newer. Very comfortable, and has a quality feel to it. The inline volume & mute are very handy. Ordered a couple more because it's hard to find a good headset at such a low price.
UPDATE 3/1/2009: Over a year later, we're still using the original headset, it's been used several times a day every day, it still works great and looks new, and we still like it just as well.
Look no more - this is a great headset for cordless phone December 11, 2007 Y. Ho (Budd Lake, NJ United States) 27 out of 27 found this review helpful
After I did the research and studied many review, I decided to purchase this headset from Amazon. The sound quality is excellent in comparison to several other brand/model that I own. Seriously, this product has exceeded my expactation for a $18 piece. You can control the volume and the mute right from the headset wire. I also like the microphone stick which is not the flexible type that is easily out of shape. The weight of the headset is pretty light and it fits quite well. I used it to talk on the phone and walked around, then I totally forgot that I was wearing a headset. The headset also works on my Motorola cell phone. The padding on the ear feels very confortable. I am happy with the product.
Incredible Bargain July 5, 2009 Biotech Consultant (California) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
My work involves many hours on the phone every day. I have a drawer full of headsets, wired and wireless, ranging from less than $10 to close to $100. The Plantronics M214C is the one I use every day. Sound quality is loud and clear, both incoming and outbound. I love the mute switch on the cord -- invaluable on lenthy conference calls. I use the M214C plugged in to the wireless handset of my (DECT) land-line phone. It's an inexpensive and highly functional set up -- and the total cost for phone + the headset was less than $40! Highly recommended.
Finally, a headset that lets people hear me on a 5.8GHz cordless phone August 29, 2008 M. Knister (Lake Tahoe, USA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
People can hear me talk with this headset on my Panasonic 5.8 GHz cordless phone--a breakthrough. With other headsets I've tried, people could barely hear me on any cordless phone I've used, even though those headsets (e.g., the Panasonic KX-TCA92) worked perfectly with my cell phone. This 214C headset has solved my problem.
I can hear other people fine, as well. The only thing I don't like is the mute switch; it's too hard to slide.
A FAQ on Plantronics website prompted me to give this headset a try and perhaps explains why other headsets have problems: "If the cordless phone is 2.4 GHz or 5.8 GHz, your voice may sound low. In that case, you will need one our "C" mobile headsets designed especially for cordless phones."
Great For The $ April 1, 2010 B. Mullins (Venice, CA USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I had one for several years and have worn it down, but not out, so I got a replacement--they both still work great.
The headband loosens up over time--you may need to bend it out a bit for a more comfortable fit. Earpad is comfortable, and isolates enough noise to make it easier to hear without sealing your ear off. Boom mic does reduce background noise so you can be heard more clearly. It will also swing up silently in case you want to talk/chew without switching the mute on.
Handy to have the belt-clip on the volume adjust/mute, but it can break off if you pull it too quickly.
If the volume isn't high enough, check the settings on your cordless phone--I recently discovered you can change their output so you don't have to run it on max volume to hear others.
Prefer a corded headset like this to a bluetooth etc.--you don't have to charge, or worry about any head/handset radiation.
I've had more expensive headsets--and this is clearly not one for constant office-type use--but for home/light use it's a great value.
